WCK's Response to Flooding in Mexico (Oct. 2025)

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team was in Veracruz, Mexico, to support families impacted by devastating flooding caused by heavy rains. The downpours and ensuing flooding and landslides damaged thousands of homes, flooded roads, and even cut off power to entire towns.
Alongside the local community our teams provided hot meals, food kits, and water. To honor Día de Muertos, we also collaborated with local bakeries and chocolaterías to distribute pan de muerto. More than a meal, this initiative aimed to offer warmth, hope, and a taste of tradition to families affected by the floods, celebrating the culture and strength that define Veracruz. After 28 days of relief efforts, we provided 386,743 meals, along with 36,765 liters of water across 66 recipient locations. Communities we served included Poza Rica, Tuxpan, Álamo, and surrounding areas.
WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis around the world.
