WCK's Philippines Earthquake Response (Oct. 2025)

World Central Kitchen's Relief Team was in Cebu, Philippines, where a magnitude 6.9 earthquake devastated the local community on September 30. Families lost access to power, water, and roads, and many have lost their homes.

WCK worked with local community members to respond to the crisis, combining speed, reach, and partnership—using a mix of hot meals, dry goods, and ready-to-eat food while building local capacity for the long term. We served more than 2.9 million meals to people across the region.

In the winter of 2021-2022, WCK responded in the Philippines after Typhoon Rai slammed the island of Siargao. Over the course of that response, we served over 1.4 million meals, ensuring access to hard-to-reach communities through partnerships with local organizations and businesses. Our local partners will again be critical to rapidly supporting the needs of their neighbors.

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis around the world.
