WCK's Response to Flooding in South Texas (Mar. 2025)

, WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN INCORPORATED

World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team was in South Texas, where heavy rainstorms caused widespread flooding and destruction. Over two days, storms brought six months’ worth of rain to the region. Our team worked with local partners to serve meals to families in need.

The catastrophic flooding spanned across South Texas, particularly in the Rio Grande Valley. Cities such as Harlingen, McAllen, and Palmview have seen unprecedented rainfall, inundating streets and homes. Emergency crews conducted numerous water rescues as drivers abandoned vehicles in rising waters. The flooding forced evacuations, closed schools, and led officials to declare states of emergency in several areas. We served over 11,000 meals to people in need.

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

WCK has provided more than 500 million fresh, nourishing meals for communities around the world. Your donation today will be used to support our emergency food relief efforts.
